Offenders Kill List - New Proactive Method Added, 3/6/02

Build 526 released on 3/6/2 has a new feature called offenders kill list. The advent of KLEZ emphasized eed for a new proactive protection
method that will not only block an attempt to install malware, or alert on its presence, but will also reverse its doings, to negate its effects.

The "kill list" method was first implemented against KLEZ, through "killing" the initialisation that the worm installed in the registry "machine run".

As the method proved effective, the kill list proactive method was augmented to encompass additional worms, and viruses. Presently, the kill list covers Nimda, Sircam, and Klez as well as other high profile malware. It's important to add here that only malware that installs itself in the startup queue fits handling by the kill list method.

To make the kill list most effective, the SmartUpdate scheme has been upgraded too, to allow fast updating and the addition of new threats to the list, by automatic updating.

The new "offenders kill list" feature, with its improved smart updating, offer the InVircible users unparalleled protection from new threats.
